Abby is 5!
Stats: 40lbs, 44 inches
Likes: playing with friends, school, swimming, reading books, LEGO and building, crafts, being outside, scootering, DRESSES!
Favourite colours: Blue and Purple and all light colours
Favourite foods: Ribs and "Smashed" potatoes, "together" yogurt, risotto, chicken on the bone (wings)
What I want to be when I grow up: Teacher
Major accomplishments this year: learning how to swim without floaties, going to school, riding a two wheeler bicycle, beginning to read, simple math problems and counting to 100 without help
Personality: Abby is silly and crazy most of the time. She has her moments when she will sit quietly and read or play with Bridget, but those moments are rare. She loves to be touching people and sitting on people. Abby is in the phase of needing to talk all the time. She will blurt out "coco bananas" at any moment and talk silly talk frequently, heaven forbid we try to have a quiet moment. She is bull-headed and stubborn to her parents, but helpful and well-behaved at school. She is strong willed and defiant at home, but a perfect example of scholarly excellence and inquisitiveness at school. To be fair, she is constantly questioning everything at home too, even if that is a well-established rule! Abby drives me crazy most days and makes me question my own sanity, but I see signs of a strong, independent, adventurous, and fearless girl in there.
Bridget is 2!
Stats: 23lbs, 33 inches
Likes: Abby, reading, stuffies, animals - especially dogs and penguins, playing with the toy kitchen, her suckie and blankies, pretties (necklaces and bracelets), songs with actions
Favourite foods: yogurt, raisins, peas (frozen), crackers, squeezies (baby food pouches), risotto, milk and apple juice, hot chocolate, cupcakes and sweets
Major accomplishments this year: besides the whole walking (took her first step at 13m but wasn't fully walking until 17 months), talking in sentences, stopping breastfeeding (20 months), sleeping through the night consistently (19 months) and the other usual accomplishments, singing the alphabet and independently identifying 7-10 letters and about 5 letter sounds, counting to 10 (to 15 with help getting past 11 - or "level" - she would count "nine, ten, level, eight, nine, ten, level"....)
Personality: Bridget is fun and outgoing. She lights up a room and smiles frequently and brightly. She is starting into the terrible twos, and will get upset at you if you don't give her what she wants, but usually she is easy going. But that doesn't mean she is not head strong! Bridget loves animals and seems to have a special connection with all living creatures. She'll tell you all about the birds she saw or the dog she met. She is very loving and has begun giving hugs and tell everyone "I love you soooo much". Bridget is silly and giggly and very ticklish still. Everyone is drawn to her red-gold hair (despite the lack of hair still!). Bridget is still in that incredible fun stage where she is learning a mile a minute and she really is a sponge, absorbing songs and information and words. I will miss this stage; it's one of my favourite ages. Like Abby, Bridget is usually up for whatever adventure we throw at her. She loves being outside too and enjoys playing with her big sister, but they are beginning to fight and annoy each other. Watching their bond grow is fascinating, as they figure out the pecking order and how to play together in a way they can both participate!
